Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) is a grassroots organization that builds power in Muslim communities through collective care, organizing, advocacy, and movement-building. They focus on dismantling the systemic dehumanization of Muslim communities and beyond by resisting structural Islamophobia, gendered Islamophobia, white supremacy, anti-Black racism, and interconnected systems of oppression. They envision a society where our communities live with dignity, power, and freedom.
Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) is rooted in the DMV and is committed to building long-term power and base-building in the region with a focus on centering working-class communities and women. Nationally, MJF is committed to building grassroots power through the Muslim Abolitionist Futures (MAF) National Network, with an emphasis on the Midwest and the South.
MJF is dedicated to building community power through organizing and uplifting Muslim women and the rights of Muslim workers, addressing the impact of COVID on Muslim communities, and abolishing policies and systems that have caused harm to Muslim communities and beyond. MJF has supported Muslim communities through their Muslim Workers Network, Muslim Workers Solidarity Fund, and COVID relief funds. They conduct research such as their oral histories of Muslim workers and provide community analysis around practices and policies on the War on Terror. MJF regularly holds racial justice workshops and healing circles led by their Muslim chaplain as well as facilitates an annual Muslim Women’s Organizing Institute to give Muslim women the organizing tools to create change in their local communities.
