PICO National Network
Grant Type: Program/Project
Duration: January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018
PICO’s mission is to create racial and economic justice in the U.S. by organizing people of faith and those most oppressed by unjust systems and policies. The organization’s overarching goal is to create a multi-racial society that respects the fundamental dignity of each person by building the power of communities of color and working class communities to control their destiny.
PICO seeks to recruit and develop the capacity of American-Muslim organizers to engage their communities in the movement for racial and economic justice, and to leverage the power of this diverse and growing population to deepen local American Muslim community organizing and intersect with parallel movements.
A Pillars grant would be used toward staff costs for the project lead, who will coordinate and manage all partnerships and programming, as well as costs associated with in-person trainings for 20 program participants.
